THREE-BODY FORCE EFFECT ON p-3He SCATTERING

Sherif Ahmed Moussa;

Abstract

ABSTRACT
This thesis is concerned with the study of three-body effect on the 'He charge form factor, elastic and inelastic differential cross sections of p-'He scattering at intermediate and high energies. The effect of the three-body force is introduced through a ground state wave function of 'He nucleus, which contains a short-range correlation factor. Therefore, the short-range correlation effect on the calculated quantity is, also, discussed. The thesis consists of four chapters as follows:

Chapter I. A general definition of the three-body force and its general properties with a presentation of the three-body force effect on the calculations of 'He charge form factor, p-'He elastic and inelastic scattering and reactions in the previous works are presented. The fundamental basis of high energy collision theory of Glauber, which is used in calculations, is also presented here.
Chapter II. The effects of three-body and short-range correlation on the 'He charge form factor is studied. The
calculations performed up to momentum transfer q=40 f?
The results show that, the short-range correlation leads to the appearance of a series of minima and maxima and the three-body force effect appears only after the second maximum and, in general, is small. We obtained a large disagreement between our
results and the experimental data Comparing with the previous works, we can say that, the question of the three-body force effect on the charge form factor is still open and need a more study
