Chroinotropic and Thermodynamic Studies of Ternary Diimine- Cyano Iron ( II ) - Complex

Abstract
Abstract:-
In the present study the indicator Fe(phen)(CN)).2HO was prepared and used as solvatochromic complex, which acts as color indicator for acceptor ability of solvent (i.e. the acidity of the solvent). The donor and acceptor effects for solvatochromic behaviour of 1,I0• phenanthroline cyano iron (II) Fe(phen)(CN)).21,0 complexes in binary mixtures divided into two parts;
I-studies in binary aqueous mixtures and
2- studies in binary solvent mixtures.
The values of the preferential solvation of the indicator with different solvent mixtures were obtained by different methods; area under the curve, isosolvation point, /v and Frankel method. The results showed that in general, the preferential solvation of this indicator by solvents is directly proportional to the donor number (DN) and inversely proportional to the acceptor number (AN).
The thermodynamic parameters indicates that the interaction of the indicator with different cations can be divided into two classes :
I-Enthalpy stabilized
2-Entropy stabilized
