Abstract

The AT is the largest tendon in the body; it plays an important role in the biomechanics of the lower extremity; Despite its strength, the AT is also vulnerable to injury, due to its limited blood supply from musculotendinousa, also it withstands great forces, especially during sporting exercises and it's located superficially.
AT injuries are common and increasing in frequency due to their association with aging and activity. Many of AT pathologies share common pathways and frequently coexist at the time of patient presentation.
AT disorders is known to be multifactorial, and pathophysiology of Achilles tendinopathy is considered complex with many cases occurring suddenly, without any preceding signs or symptoms and this has resulted in a lack of specificity in the presenting clinical features of every pathology.
(MRI) has been documented to be with high accuracy in identifying AT pathologies .
This study aimed to show the role of MRI in diagnosis of AT disorders compared to the clinical diagnosis results by classic clinical tests in 40 patients.
