PHYSICO-CHEMICAL STUDIES FOR DESTRUCTION OF SOME ORGAINIC COMPOUNDS PRESENT IN WASTEWATER

Sawssan Mohamed Abu EL Hassan;

Abstract

The main objective of this thesis is to study the degradation of two dyes present in textile waste waters, mainly Remazol Brilliant BlueR and New Coccine.

The . thesis includes 4 mam chapters. Chapter I (Introduction) present• a review of • the importance of photochemistry, ultraviolet radiation dosimetry and measurement, biological effects of ultraviolet radiation in humans, the measurement of ultraviolet radiation, and the photolysis of water.

Chapter II, is a literature survey on the process of the destruction of some organic compounds by using UV radiation.
Chapter III (Experimental) contains a detailed description of the

experimental procedures used together, with calculation methods.

The experimental procedure includes the preparation of solutions, calibration of the radiation field, the technique of inadiation of different dye solutions and the analysis of the obtained spectra. A detailed description of the methods used in calculation of the percentage decoloration, the kinetics constant and the quantum yields R.
