Value Of The 12-Lead Electrocardiogram In Discriminating Atrioventricular Nodal Reciprocating Tachycardia From Circus Movement Atrioventricular Tachycardia Utilizing a Retrograde Accessory Pathway

Ahmed Mohamed Amin;

Abstract

Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia is a common
Tachycardia and AVNRT with the CMT are representing the most common mechanisms of these tachycardia.

The diagnosis of both tachycardias by EPS is the most valuable method but it has its risks, so, non invasive determination of the mechanism of the tachycardia may be helpful in guiding pharmacologic therapy and in selecting patients for non pharmacologic forms of therapy such as radio
frequency catheter ablation. Therefore, the purpose of this
-<
\ study is to evaluate the diagnostic utility of a variety of ECG

criteria in discriminating between the AV nodal reentrant tachycardia from the circus movement Atrioventricular tachycardia utilizing a retrograde Accessory pathway.
A Retrospective analysis was done in 34 of 12-lead ECG during Tachycardia in patients proved by EPS to had either AVNRT in (17) patients or CMT in (17 patients)

We selected the ECG which was showing regular narrow
;•
QRS tachycardia (<0.11 second) and with rate> 120 b/min.

and their ECG during sinus rhythm showing no manifestations of pre excitation.
