Abstract


Total knee replacement (TKR) is a surgical procedure in which the diseased parts of the knee joint are replaced with an artificial prosthesis. The main aim for TKR surgeries is to relieve the significant disabling pain that not responded to the conservative measures. Worldwide, TKR is the most commonly performed joint replacement surgeries (Scott‏, 2018).
Aim of the study:
This study aimed to assess the biopsychosocial needs of patients undergoing total knee replacement through the following:
1- Assess the physical needs of patients undergoing total knee replacement.
2- Assess the psychological needs of patients undergoing total knee replacement.
3- Assess the social needs of patients undergoing total knee replacement.
Research questions:
1- What are the physical needs of patients undergoing total knee replacement?
