Effect of laser on the electrical and optical properties of Polycarbonate
Sanaa Ahmed Mahmoud Gab-Allah;
Abstract
Polymers represent a special class of materials. Their composition is of a very large molecule is a characteristic
• feature. They consist of many units of the same kind, The monemers, the kind, size and arrangement of which along the chain determine the molecular structure of the polymer, the statistically coiled molecule and the regularly folded chain are the limiting cases of molecular structure.
Polycarbonate are convenient for investigating laser damage mechanisms because it represents (example: The addition of the Polybasic Acids on PC gives Ester-groups which can be used in fibers, coating surfaces, plastics, rubbers and laminating resiner). Also, the study of the electrical conduction in polymeric films is of great importance because of a number of possible technical applications of such films in various areas of microelectronics.
The sample is a sheet of Polycarbonate type A-bisphenol with thickness 3 .5 mm.
The effect of UV irradiation at different wavelengths and the thermal annealing on the electrical conductivity of PC films was studied.
The I-V characteristics for PC were studied at different temperatures.
The aim of work is the study of the effect of thermal annealing and the effect of Nd:Yag laser irradiation on the electrical and optical properties of the sample of Polycarbonate.
The electrical properties of the unirradiated and irradiated samples were measured by using PM 6304 programmable RCL meter (PHILIPS).
