Abstract


Last Romanticism conflicted with most of the new currents that appeared at the beginning of the twentieth century and the direction of the musical authors towards programmatic music had a major impact on the development of music by entering into new artistic fields and the association of music with other arts such as (literature, poetry, plastic art), which was reflected in the development of elements Music in terms of (wording, orchestral distribution, harmonic, ...... etc). Where they considered that the literary idea to be expressed is the purpose and goal, but music with its various elements is the mean that must be harnessed by all means to achieve this idea and this principle is called "realism" in music, which is an attempt to impart the ability to describe and depict music.
This development is due to the creativity of a group of musical authors, the most important of which is Hector Berlioz (1803 - 1869) who contributed to crystallizing the idea of programmatic music. Berlioz attempted to link his fictional symphony movements using a fixed melodic idea that reappears in every symphony movement as a connecting factor and thus the cradle of Berlioz The way in front of Franz Liszt (1811- 1886) was to break the separations between the symphony movements, as he created in what is known as the "symphony poem" which consists of one continuous movement whose internal sections are connected by a melodic idea that appears continuously in a varied and diversified way and was called his way of using melodies. What is known as "modulating tunes".
