Abstract

The current study aimed to investigate the effect of humor activities on developing interactive writing of the primary stage pupils. To verify such effect, a group of thirty pupils in fifth primary took part in this study. The research designed the following instruments: one equivalent version of the EFL Interactive Writing (IW) Test for the pre- and post-treatment and a scoring rubric for assessing the pupils’ interactive writing. In addition , the researcher designed an enrichment Interactive Writing Program concerning the integration of humor and interactive writing in an online learning environment, using Edmodo platform (e.g., puppet comics, comics, x-mind, jokes, video show and stories using photo story 3). After the administration of the Interactive writing posttest, the adjusted interactive writing components in rubrics were calculated. Qualitative and quantitative analyses of the retrieved data showed that humor is an effective technique for developing primary pupils' interactive writing. Recommendations and suggestions for further research were provided.
