Synthesis, Characterization and Application of Polymeric Dispersants for Inkjet inks Industry

Mohamed Ahmed Abdelaziz Mohamed;

Abstract

To attain the finest optical performance of ink and prolonged shelf life time, dispersants have a great influence that should be attended to, so forth, the dispersants polymers sought for the current research work were prepared by following routes:
1-Reaction of different types of polyether with petrochemical based polyurethane prepolymer.
2- Reaction of same polyethers with prepared green based polyurethane prepolymer based on polyol castor oil.
Chapter 1:
General introduction, history, types of inkjet printing technology, different types of inkjet ink and the compositions of inks were presented.
Chapter 2:
Chapter 2 includes:
• Introduction to petrochemical based polymeric dispersants, the established formulations and the product optical characterization.
• Preparation of eight dispersants denoted PuD1 to PuD 8 by reaction of different polyethers with polyurethane prepolymer at 80-90oC in presence of Dibutyltin dilaurate DBTDL as a catalyst.
• The chemical used and the prepared polymers were characterized structurally using Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and the polymer molecular weight parameters were probed using Gel permeation Chromatography (GPC).
