Abstract

The study was made to evaluate the solar desalination by concentrated mirrors system. The study was made experimentally on a pilot erected in the field pilots' sanitary engineering laboratory, faculty of engineering, Ain Shams University. After the evaluation and monitoring of the system operation and performance during about three months the study approved the system suitability for its purpose.
A comparison technically and financially had been made between study system and other similar systems of the same technique and resulted that the study system is the best technical solution for such technology with higher in cost than another system but in overall comparison it was the best system for such technique.
Another comparison with the other desalination methods was made and it resulted that in technical point of view it ranked the third best one and from environmental point of view it was the second best one while in financial it ranked the second lowest cost. That put this study system as third system of desalination in the overall comparison.
Finally, the solar desalination by concentrated mirrors technique proved by this study its suitability and applicability for the sunny areas.
