DESIGNING AN ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN

RANIA AHMED ABD-ELRAH-EEM ELSAYED;

Abstract

The environment is defined as every thing and creature that surrounds us. God has created these things and creatures as a precious gift or grace to suit the human life, as long as we are capable of keeping the environment. God, the all mighty, has designed the accurate and precise environmental stability factors and measures, and delegated us to work hard and earn our living rationally and logically, away from any kind of the excessive extravagance or misuse.
But unfortunately, man has disregarded God's teachings and commandments concerning the environment. Man has been misusing his natural environment through pollution, contamination and attrition. Man-made pollution has recently been so widespread that we may lose our environmental control. So we should reconsider our
environmental attitudes and manners, and rationalize the consumption of the available
'
natural resources.
The question is: Where, How, and with whom should we start ...?
should we initiate our efforts with the university students, men and ladies working in the different companies and organizations, or the children in their kindergartens and institutions? Can the children easily comprehend the environmental attributes and aspects?
The preschool years are important in forming and developing man's personality, because the personal habits, attitudes, manners and beliefs formed in this early age are rather difficult to change later, when the person grows up.
So, the childhood is the best age to root the proper ethics, principles and knowledge. The child manners come out as the aggregate of the behavioral concepts acquired generally through his social environment, or especially through his parental care.
