Spectrophotometric Determination of Thorium Using a New Chromogenic Dye after Several Separation Techniques from its Bearing Rocks

Abstract
The present work was directed for studying thorium spectrophotometric determination using a new chromogenic dye after several separation methods of Th(IV) from its aqueous and acidic solutions and applying all the investigations on different reference and rock samples.
The thesis consists of three main chapters which described as follows:
Chapter One: Introduction and Literature Review
This chapter concerned with a full literature survey on spectrophotometric determination of thorium after several separation techniques. The main points that have been discussed through this chapter can be summarized as follows:
• Overview of Th(IV) with scientific and historical review of thorium chemistry including its discovery, general properties, different application, health and safety factors.
• Reviewing of thorium-bearing rocks and preparation of the laboratory samples such as sampling, crushing, grinding and decomposition.
• Different determination methods of Th(IV) with focusing on important considerations in spectrophotometric methods.
• The various techniques for thorium separation and preconcentration in analytical chemistry.
• A vast scientific reviews of Th(IV) spectrophotometric determination and its separation using various adsorbents.

This chapter deals with the performed experiments. The main points that have been required through this chapter can be listed as follows:
• The utilized chemicals, reagents and equipments for the preparation of stock solutions and samples.
