Factors Affecting Performance of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Team

Abstract

Despite the technological advancement in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention, SCA remains a substantial issue in public health, overall survival rates remain poor and unsatisfactory and it is considered a leading cause of death globally. The earlier CPR is performed especially within the first min of SCA, the greater the chance of survival without neurological damage and major disabilities especially when managed by adequately trained and qualified team. The response to IHCA often called code blue. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation teams respond to code blue 24 hr a day, seven days a week. There are many factors affecting the performance of CPR team and these factors are either personal factors or environmental factors. The personal factors are factors related to team leader and team members and it focus on technical skills, NTS and acquiring updated knowledge. While the environmental factors are factors related to policies, setting/structure and supplies or equipments. If any variable, whether a medical skill or non-medical quality even environmental factors, are lacking, the effectiveness of a code team’s resuscitation could be hindered. So it is important to improve the overall performance of code team, to double or increase the chance of survival to home with out long term neurological damage or major disabilities.
