Abstract
Osteoporosis is considered a major health problem in Egypt as 6.5% of females aged 20 years and above suffers from osteopenia and 12.6% of women in same age group suffer from osteoporosis Egyptian women have generally lower bone mineral density compared to women in western countries due to sun exposure is limited partially due to the cultural practice of covering the whole body with clothes, dark skin color and prolonged breastfeeding without taking vitamin D supplements, Osteoporosis affects about 200 million women worldwide. The role of nurses for patients with osteoporosis or at risk for osteoporosis includes increase assess patient's knowledge in order to discover needs about osteoporosis and promoting behavior change, providing patient education through the lifespan about bone health and prevention of osteoporosis and fractures including discussing strategies to ensure bone health in adolescents (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, 2012)
Aim of the study: The present study aimed to assess adolescent's perception regarding osteoporosis risk factor.
