BIODIESEL PRODUCTION USING CHICKEN-EGGSHELLSAS A HETEROGENEOUS CATALYST

Eman Abdo Dawood Hassan;

Abstract

Biodiesel is known to be one of the renewable and new energy sources. It is formed from methyl or ethyl esters, which are produced from vegetable oil or animal fats and it has the same fuel properties as diesel fuel. This thesis provides a study on the factors that affect the production of biodiesel using eggshell as heterogeneous catalyst, where the selected factors are molar ratio between methanol and oil, reaction time in hours and catalyst loading.
The reactions of transesterification were done under microwave heating to illustrating the influence of microwave irradiation on the process of transesterification. It was proved in study that an easy, fast route is provided to this substantial biofuel by applying radio frequency microwave energy, with the advantages of promotion of the rate of reaction.
