Surgical Management of Early Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Abstract


We found that; the mean age of all patients was (59.14 ± 9.8) years. Regarding gender of the patients, (50%) of patients were males; and (50%) were females.
Regarding basic clinical data; (26%) of patients were smokers, (6%) of patients had HBV, (12%) of patients had DM and HTN, while all patients had HCV infection.
Regarding Child-Pugh classes; (96%) of patients were class-A, and (4%) were class-B.
Regarding US data; (92%) of patients had mono-segmental lesion, while (8%) had bi-segmental lesion, with average size of lesion of (3 ± 1.3) cm, with segment 2, 3 and 6 were commonly affected.
Regarding intra-operative data; the average operative time was (130 ± 39.3) min, with average (407 ± 505.5) ml blood loss.
Regarding post-operative complications; (26%) of patients had ascites, (2%) of patients had liver failure and wound infection, with overall complications rate of (28%).
Regarding post-operative follow-up data; the average ICU and hospital stay were (1.5 ± 0.5), (4 ± 0.9) days, with average (2.8 ± 1) drain removal days.
