Abstract


ealth care (WPV) refers to violent behaviors and offences that occur in the context of work in a health care system. These violent behaviors include physical and mental violence and offences such as physical aggression, threatening actions/ language, verbal abuse, bullying, harassment, and racism. WPV can lead to physical and mental fatigue, absenteeism, work sabotage, and serious outcomes such as injuries and diseases. These outcomes can directly or indirectly affect employees’ work efficiency, service quality, and work morale. Professional reputation and customer trust can deteriorate, causing turnover intention of nurses and further shortages in the workforce. These adverse effects are serious threats to the function of an organization (Chang et al., 2018).
This study was aimed to assess the relationship between workplace violence and turnover intention among staff nurses at El-Fayoum University Hospitals through; assessing workplace violence, assessing turnover intention and finding out the relationship between workplace violence and turnover intention among staff nurses. The research question was stated '' Is there a relationship between workplace violence and turnover intention among staff nurses?''
