INTERFACE AND INTERCONNECTING NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS WITH ELECTRIC GRID

Amr Ahmed Abd El-Gawad Abd El-Hafez;

Abstract

Nuclear power plants (NPPs) are used to generate electricity and can contribute in raising the efficiency of the electric grid and reducing the proportion of carbon dioxide in nature, the main objective of the thesis is discussing all different power sources which supply auxiliary loads to ensure nuclear safety concept also the conditions of interconnecting NPPs with the electric grid are discussed also, Auxiliary power sources in NPP have been simulated by using ETAP software to perform some technical studies to check the performance of power system inside NPP.

Key words:
(Electric grid - Nuclear safety - Reliability of power system - conditions of interconnecting NPPs with electric grid – power system studies)
