Needs of Patients with Leukemia Post Stem Cell Transplantation

Abstract


Leukemia is a malignant disease of the white blood cells that affects all age groups. Treatment of leukemia may involve some combination of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and stem cell transplant. SCT is a type of treatment that includes the bone morrow, the peripheral blood, or the umbilical cord blood as a source of stem cells used for transplantation. It may be autologous, allogeneic or syngeneic. Stem cell transplantation is an invasive therapeutic approach which develops specific physical, psychological, social, and emotional conditions in the patients (Fox, Deeg & Lothian, 2018).
Aim of the study:
The present study aimed to identify the needs of patient with leukemia post stem cell transplantation.
This aim was achieved through: -
1- Assessing the bio psychosocial needs of patients with leukemia (physical, psychological, social needs) post stem cell transplantation.
2-Assessing the educational needs of Patients with leukemia Post stem cell Transplantation.
