Abstract
Acute rheumatic fever is a systemic autoimmune consequence of an untreated GABHS pharyngeal infection. The impact of disease is aggravated by low public awareness of the disease in the community, the lack of appropriate and early diagnosis and the low socio- economic status. The major interventions for prevention and control include reduction of exposure to group a streptococci and primary prophylaxis to prevent initial episodes of RF (WHO, 2014).
Aim of the study:
The aim of the study was to prevent rheumatic fever among children with recurrence streptococcal infection through:
- Assessing the mother's knowledge and attitude regarding streptococcal infection.
- Designing and implement a health education program to improve knowledge and attitude of the mother's regarding streptococcal infection.
- Evaluating the impact of the health education program on the mother’ knowledge, practice and attitude.
