Abstract


A method of transportation of liquid, in the domestic and industrial field, is the pipeline networks. The pipelines have been an essential works which must be designed carefully to create a reliable, secured, and rigid system.
According to important and high costs of creating a pipeline networks, it is important to study all expected and unexpected conditions that could harm the pipeline system. Among these conditions, there is the transient flow and the consequent effect of water hammer phenomena which leads to a sudden increase of the pressure above the pressure rating of the pipelines and accessories which could destroy all whole system. Therefore, introducing the proper device, to control the pressure inside the pipelines, becomes an important issue.
