Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process for Engineering Department Selection

Hossam Kamal El-Din Thabet El-Sherif;

Abstract

If it is difficult for the student to choose an engineering department,
a new model must be proposed and be created to improve and guide the student choice to the appropriate engineering department. This was the main factor of the thesis. Defining criteria as fundamental courses and alternatives as engineering departments, we used FAHP in a practical way to specify alternatives relative weights and high alternative relative weight will be the appropriate one for the student.
The thesis is organized as follows: Chapter 1 gives an introduction to the research in this thesis. Chapter 2 contains theoretical background of topics involved in the thesis’ work. Chapter 3 explains the proposal model for recommending the best suitable engineering department by using FAHP. Chapter 4 introduces a case study which is a process of testing the proposed model about the grades of previous students and getting the results. Finally, Chapter 5 gives a conclusion of the thesis’ work, and future work.
