THE VALUE OF SERUM INTERLEUKIN-6 AND C-­REACTIVE PROTEIN LEVELS IN NON HODGKIN'S LYMPHOMA PATIENTS

Abstract

Classic predictive models in lymphoma incorporate clinical variables that are believed to be surrogate markers for illlderlying pathogenic determinants of biologic heterogeneity.

Cytokines play an important role in the pathogenesis of lymphomas. An elevated serum or tissue level of cytokinc can contribute to the clinical and histopathological alterations in NHL. Elevated serum levels of interleukin-6 lymphoma patients was related to failure free survival and over all survival rate.

The aim of this work, measure the level of!L-6 in NHL patients and asses the correlation ofll-6 with response and prognostic factors . Meanwhile as IL-6 is the main cytokines responsible for induction of C­

reactive protein from liver ,we asses the correlation between C-reactive protein and IL-6 in NHL patients ,and the reliability to use CRP as a possible prognostic biomarker in NHL

In the present study , Forty newly diagnosed NHL patients were assessed for IL6 and CRP in their setum ., at presentation , immediately after finishing 6 cycle of chemotherapy and 6 months later .
