High flux versus Hemodiafiltration in removal of indoxyl sulphate

Abstract


The aim of this study is to compare removal of indoxyl sulphate toxin during single session between low flux, high flux hemodialysis and hemodiafiltration..
This cross sectional study was taking place in Ain Shams university hospital. The study was done on 60 hemodialysis patients divided into 3 groups based on dialysis modality:
Group 1: (20) patients received hemodialysis session using low flux filter.
Group 2: (20 patients received hemodialysis session using high flux filter.
Group 3: (20) patients received hemodiafiltration session.
This study included 66.67 % males (n=40) and 33.33% females (n=20), the mean age was 43.95 years in group 1, 48.35 years in group 2 and 45.10 years in group 3 with no significant difference in age and sex between groups.
73.33% of patients were HCV negative (n=44), 21.67% of patients were HCV positive (n=13) and 5% of patients received HCV treatment (n=3).
