Abstract

CAD software (3shape and Exocad software) were evaluated in digital construction of complete denture using complete denture module. Seven completely edentulous patients were selected free from any systemic or local conditions that might affect the results of this study.
Two digital dentures were designed for each patient using two different software. Complete dentures designed by 3Shape software (Group A), and complete dentures designed by Exocad software (Group B). Patient’s secondary impressions and jaw relation were conventionally taken then scanned using 3shape D850 scanner to be imported as STL file to the designing software.
3shape software designing steps included model analysis, digital surveying, digital teeth setting, creation of denture bases and finalizing the denture. While Exocad software designing steps included upper model analysis, lower model analysis, upper and lower models together, teeth setting, path of insertion and removal determination, upper and lower denture bases design, adaptation of denture bases to teeth and finalizing the denture.
The designed dentures were exported as STL file and sent to Duplicator 7 3D printer. The adaptation of the printed denture bases was compared to the scanned master cast as a reference data by calculating the
