Abstract

This convenient interventional study constructed, to compare two percutaneous access routes in varicocele embolization, the transfemoral and the jugular routes. It is a comparison of complications “post-procedural pain, contrast extravasation, hematoma, glue migration, recurrence and pampiniform plexus phlebitis“, radiation exposure “mean procedure time and the fluoroscope time” and recurrence rates.
This randomized convenient (interventional study) included 20 patients with varicocele presented by pain, infertility or recurrence after surgery and diagnosis was confirmed by ultrasound.
In this interventional “convenient” study, we evaluated the technical success, complications, radiation exposure and recurrence rates, in 20 patients with varicocele treated by percutaneous embolization using two differed routes either the transfemoral route at the right groin or the transjugular route.
In this study (20 patients), we found that the right IJV approach is easier than right common femoral one, as it’s technically easier to catheterize both renal and both internal spermatic veins through.
There were non statistically significant difference found between two groups regarding age, clinical indications, US finding, preoperative semen analysis, postoperative
