EVALUATION AND MANAGEMENT OF SOLAR POND TECHNIQUE AS A SOURCE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY

MOHAMED ALI ELSAYED NOWER;

Abstract

In terms of the importance of energy to Egypt, because of the rapid increase in population and importance of technology. Accordingly, solar pond technique was adopted. Solar pond technique has advantages such as can provide thermal water for industrial or agricultural processes, desalination, building heating, cooling, and generating electricity for thermal water
Accordingly, this research was commenced with the impartial of assessing the solar pond technique, as a source of renewable energy in order to rely on them as an unconventional water resource, where Qaroun Lake was taken as a case study.
The main objectives of this research are evaluating solar pond technique as a source of renewable energy, investigating of solar pond technique under local temperature and climate conditions, and Investigating the potential of the solar pond technique as a source for providing renewable energy to support the remote fragile societies.
In order to achieve the research objectives, a methodology was planned to encompass 6 investigations (i.e. Theoretical, Field, Experimental, Numerical, Analytical and Inferential).
During the “Theoretical Investigation”, many articles and researches in the field of Solar Ponds (SPs) were accumulated; scrutinized; categorized and presented.
Throughout the “Field Investigation”, field study and measurements were conducted. In addition, data assembly was achieved and the data were processed in order to perceive a complete data picture about the study area.
