Abstract
O
besity has reached epidemic levels worldwide affecting more than 30% of adults. Mortality rates in patients with morbid obesity are 6-12 times higher in men aged 25 – 44 versus men with healthy weight of the same age. Surgical treatment of comorbidities appears to be cost effective by eliminating use of medications in patients who were previously morbidly obese. So, bariatric surgeries has become the treatment of choice for obesity and its comorbidities.
The aims of the current study are to determine and evaluate the impact of sleeve gastrectomy and minigastric bypass procedure on weight loss and post operative skin redundancy.
Type of Study: Retrospective Comparative Thesis study. This study includes fivty patients with abdominal wall redundancy after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and mini gasteric bypass. All the patients will be examined as regards age, sex, weight, height, BMI, general examination, co-morbidities. The patients will be allocated into two groups of twenty five patients each, depending on which type of surgery the group will undergo: Group I: 25 patients who underwent sleeve gastrectomy (laparoscopically), 12 male and 13 female, Group II: 25 patients who underwent Mini-Gastric Bypass, 12 male and 13 female.
This study included 50 patients with abdominal wall redundancy post laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and minigasteric bypass presented to Ain-Shams Hospital in the period (October 2019 – April 2020).
