Abstract
Synthesis, physical properties and biological activity of Schiff bases based on chitosan bearing quinolinone moiety
Chitosan Cs was exposed to react with 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-2,5-dioxo-5,6-dihydro-2H-pyrano[3,2-c]quinolone-3-carboxaldehyde B in acid media to form Schiff base CsP, which shows high adsorption of remazol red (RR) dye, which was used in textile industry. Also, N-methyl-4-hydroxy-2H-quinolin-2-one-3-carboxaldehyde C was reacted with Chitosan in acid medium to form Schiff base CsQ, which possess a higher biological activity.
New composites of chitosan Schiff bases bearing quinolinone and pyranoquinolinone moieties loaded with silver nanoparticles were prepared using Ag/NPs (with a ratio of 1%) with respect to chitosan Schiff base.
