EFFECT OF OXIDATIVE STRESS ON DEVELOPMENT OF IN VITRO PRODUCED CAMEL EMBRYOS

AHMED MOHAMED KAMEL;

Abstract

This study was consisted of three experiments conducted to investigate the effect of antioxidant supplementation to IVC medium on development of in vitro produced camel embryos and expression of embryo quality marker genes. In the first experiment, in vitro culture medium of dromedary camel embryos was supplemented with three different concentrations of ascorbic acid 50 μg/ml (T2), 100 μg/ml (T3) and 150 μg/ml (T4) in addition to a control group (T1) without ascorbic acid supplementation. In the second experiment, the effect of three different concentrations of cysteine as IVC medium supplementation was studied. The experimental groups were as follow: control group (T1) without cysteine and three cysteine treatment groups 100 µM (T2), 500 µM (T3) and 1mM (T4). The third experiment consisted of four experimental groups; control group without antioxidant supplementation to IVC medium (T1), second treatment group supplemented with 150 μg/ml ascorbic acid (T2), third treatment group supplemented with 100 µM cysteine (T3) and the fourth treatment group (T4) supplemented with a combination of both antioxidants (150 μg/ml ascorbic acid and 100 µM cysteine).
