Effect of using Gum Arabic and Moringa extracts on the peptic ulcer in the experimental rats

Abstract

The aim of this study is: to evaluate the effect of using Gum Arabic and Moringa Oleifera extracts on the peptic ulcers. 68 rats were divided into 11 groups (6/every group) A group fed on the basal diet only as negative control group.62 rats were infected by aspirin solution. 2 rats were taken as exam to be make sure that the peptic ulcer is accused. A group was fed on the basal diet only positive control. G1, G2, G3 were fed on the basal diet + Gum Arabic extract (500,1000,1500 mg/kg of body rat) respectively. G4, G5, G6 were fed on the basal diet + Moringa Oleifera extract (800,1000,1200 mg/kg of body rat) respectively. G7, G8, G9 were fed on the basal diet + Gum Arabic and Moringa Oleifera as a mixture extract (500,1000,1500 mg/kg of body rat) respectively. At the end of the experiment (6 weeks) the results showed that: -groups 6 and 5 (M 1200mg/kg and M 1000mg/kg) regest the highest increases in WBC, lymphocytes and volume. Group 6 then G3 (M 1200mg/kg then AG 1500mg/kg) regest the highest increase in PH when compared with (Co-). Histological study showed that revealed the absence of histological changes in groups 6 (M 1200mg/kg) while other groups showed mucosal vascular congestion and submucosal edema with inflammatory cell infiltration. Slight submucosal edema was change observed in Groups 5and 3 (M 1000mg/kg and AG 1500mg/kg). It is concluded that: - Giving Moringa extract (1000 and 1200 mg / kg) As a natural extract for the gastric ulcer is necessary for improving Hemoglobin, Hematocrit, Erythrocyte, lymphocytes and WBC. Also, the mixture of gum Arabic and moringa, especially the concentration of 1500 mg / kg of body weight with those which matched to human which increase and improve, RBC and obtaining normal tissue structure of the stomach layers. Also, Ingesting gum Arabic extract is important to improve RBC, WBC, hemoglobin and hematocrit with in its different concentrations (1500 mg / kg) with those which matched to human, and improvement in the tissue of the stomach layers where no tissue changes were observed.
