Ahmed Hisham Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed Salem;

Abstract

The goal of this study is to design gated communities efficiently so that to decrease their bad impact on the urban fabric. This research is based on a matrix and a legend that are generated after analyzing the literature review. This matrix shows the impact of the GCs’ participants socio-culturally, spatially, environmentally, and economically. The legend is used as a tool to analyze the GCs. Scoring of the matrix is produced from the questionnaire that is filled by experts in the field. There are three case studies of GCs that are chosen to be analyzed in the matrix. Results from the questionnaire generated two matrices. The first one is for the current status situation and the other is the should-be status. It has been shown that the results produced from the should-be status are more professional and express the impact of the selected GC on the urban structure.
