Effect of probiotics on some pharmacokinetic aspects of difloxacin

Hend Fouad Mohamed El Stuhy;

Abstract

In the present work, the effect of probiotics on the pharmacokinetic parameters of difloxacin (10mg/kg b.wt.) after intravenous and oral administration in healthy and Mycoplasma gallisepticum experimentally infected chickens as well as its tissue residues were studied. Difloxacin were determined in plasma and tissues by using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). A total of one hundred and twenty clinically normal broiler chickens were used in this study . Chickens were divided into 12 groups. The groups were classified into two main groups each group was subdivided into 6 subgroups. The first group was used for studying the effect of probiotics on the pharmacokinetic aspects and tissue residues of difloxacin in healthy broiler chickens, the 6 subgroups were allocated into 4 subgroups for the kinetics (2 normal and 2 probiotic pretreated healthy chickens each of 5 healthy chickens for i.v. and oral route) and two subgroups for the tissue residue study (without and with probiotic pretreatment each of 20 healthy chickens). The second group was used for studying the effect of probiotics on the pharmacokinetic aspects and tissue residues of difloxacin in Mycoplasma gallisepticum-experimentally infected chickens in which chickens were allocated into 6 subgroups, 4 of them for the kinetics (2 MG-infected and 2 probiotic pretreated MG-infected chickens each 5 chickens for i.v. and oral route) and 2 subgroups for tissue residue study (MG-infected and probiotic pretreated MG-infected chickens each of 20 chickens).
