PUNCHING OF REINFORCED CONCRETE SLAB-COLUMN CONNECTIONS SUBJECTED TO COMBINED AXIAL LOADS AND UNBALANCED MOMENTS

Ahmed Gamal Mohamed Abd El-Gawad;

Abstract

This research use finite element method to study punching shear effect on slab-column connections exposed to combined axial loads and unbalanced moments resulted from lateral loads.
This thesis investigates the effect of certain factors on the slab-column connection punching shear capacity such as the effect of different values of eccentricity made by the unbalanced moment, the effect of increasing the concrete strength value of slab- column connection, the effect of increasing the flexural reinforcement of the slab-column connection, the effect of using fiber reinforced concrete and the effect of using shear reinforcement.
three-dimensional models were created by ANSYS software to represent connections exposed to different loading patterns, and the load-deflection relationships of the software output are compared to conclude the effect of the previously mentioned factors.
