Blood transfusion services play a critical role in modern surgical operations .Just a few years ago, the general public and many experienced physicians, believed some what naively that the
•· compatible blood transfusions were entirely safe and certainly far
less risky than almost any surgical procedure.
When transfusion is indicated , the physician must decide whether patient needs whole blood or blood components and how much needed to be given. Whole blood is presented in many forms, each of which is indicated in certain clinical condition.
