Abstract


SCD in young people is devastating problem. Despite the causes are well known, it may not be discovered before the episode of sudden death. Development of preventive and educational program requires identification of SCD/SCA risk factors, causes and characteristics.
Our aim is to study the characteristics of SCD/SCA in a cohort of Egyptian population.
246 patients of SCD/SCA were studied from 5000 records of arrhythmia patients from January 2010 till January 2020.patirnts were divided according to age into two groups: Group (1): with age ranges from 2 to 12 years, which included 47 patients (19.1%).Group (2): with age ranges from 12 to 40 years, which included 199 patients (80.9 %).
According to presence of family history of SCD into two groups: Group (A): with positive family history of SCD which included 202 patients (82.1%). Group (B): with negative family history of SCD which included 44 patients (17.9 %).
All patients and/or their first-degree relatives were subjected to thorough history taking and clinical evaluation and reviewed of investigations included ECG, Echocardiography, Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, Coronary angiography, Holter, stress ECG and laboratory was done.
