Role of 68Ga-labelled PSMA PET/CT in assessment and staging of Prostate Cancer.
Ahmed Magdi Ahmed Mohammed;
Abstract
68Ga-PSMA PET/CT is a valuable tool with high diagnostic sensitivity 90.9 % and good specificity 68.4% and high reproducibility for diagnosis and staging of patients with newly diagnosed PC. We observed a significant relation between the SUVmax of the primary tumors and prognostic parameters of the disease. Higher SUVmax were associated with high tumor grades, high PSA values, and metastatic disease. According to these results, 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT should take place in routine work-up for staging of patients with newly diagnosed PC. Nevertheless, due to its high costs, the 68Ga-PSMA PET/ CT might be limited to suspected cases where there is still doubt after doing conventional imaging methods. Future prospective studies with a large sample size should be performed using either image-guided or targeted biopsies with histopathology from prostatectomy specimen to further confirm the correlation between these quantitative parameters of 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT and patient outcomes.
