Soft Skills Training Strategy and its Effect on Nurse Interns' Civil Behavior

Abstract


Background: Soft skills and civility are essential for personal development and workplace success, so it is necessary to discuss the impact of them on education and career success. Aim of study: was to assess the effect of soft skills training strategies on nurse interns' civil behavior. Setting: The study was conducted at four Ain-Shams University Hospitals where nurse interns are having their training Design: Pre-experimental one group pretest posttest design. The subjects of this study included all available nurse interns having their training in the aforementioned. Subjects: the study sample was 90 nurse interns. Tools: the data were collected by using two tools, namely soft skills elements questionnaire and workplace civility index. Results of the study revealed that there was a highly statistically significant improvement in nurse interns’ total knowledge in the post and follows up phases as compared to the pre intervention phase. In addition to that; there was highly statistically significant improvement in nurse interns’ soft skills and civil behavior in the post and follows up phases as compared to the pre intervention phase. Conclusion: Implementing soft skills training strategy for nurse interns is effective in improve their civil behavior Recommendation: Based on the study findings, it was recommended that soft skills training strategy should be applied in all nursing curricula and further studies should be developed to assess soft skills and civil behavior for faculty staff.
