Eman Soliman Mohamed Soliman;

Abstract

Twenty-eight adult SLE patients attending the rheumatology and rehabilitation clinic, Faculty of medicine, Cairo University hospitals were investigated in the present study. Their age ranged from 17-40 years, their age of onset ranged from 4-33 years and their disease duration ranged from IO months to 19 years.
The mean fibrinogen levels for SLE patients were higher than that for the controls this difference was statistically significant. The mean fibrinogen level in patients with nephritis was significantly higher than that in patients without nephritis. The mean fibrinogen level in patients with thrombosis was significantly lower than that of patients without thrombosis. It was found that cases with positive anticardiolipin show a significant tendency to fall in the hyperfibrinogenic group. Lastly, we found that the mean fibrinogen level in patients with positive ANA and anti-DNA was significantly
higher than that of patients with negative ANA and anti-DNA.
