COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN TRABECULECTOMY AND TRABECULECTOMY WITH SILASTIC BAND IMPLANT IN THE TREATMENT OF CONGENITAL GLAUCOMA

Abstract
Congenital glaucoma is one of the blinding diseases in children, the control of the disease is still till now one of the. serious problems to solve, every effort is done for best management of the disease.
Surgical treatment is the recommended way for management of this disease, many surgical procedures were introduced with varying rate of success but still no ideal procedure is discovered.
Trabeculectomy operation and its modifications is one of the well known procedures to control the IOP.
This study was conducted to twenty eyes with congenital glaucoma belonging to eleven patient who where admitted to Alexandria University hospital for surgical treatment of uncontrolled IOP, the eyes included were having one or more of the following conditions :
1. Failed previous glaucoma surgery.
2. opaque cornea (Corneal Opacity)
