Abstract

olorectal cancer is the third most common cancer among men & women and the fourth leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Preoperative radiographic imaging is fundamental for initial staging of newly diagnosed or recurrent colon cancers. The need for a (MDT) approach is increasing for treating colorectal cancer patients as it allows more tailored treatment for complex or advanced colorectal cancer patients. Although surgical resection remains the primary treatment for rectal cancer, the use of neoadjuvant chemo radiation has increased. Its use is based on clinical trials that showed it may improve local control and overall survival rates compared with postoperative adjuvant therapy.
Precise information and histopathological assessment of resected specimens of large gut cancer is necessary for prognosis and management. The incidence of cancer colon is slightly higher in males. The most common site in this study is ano-rectal tumors. The most common type was moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. Regarding the procedure of colectomy, right hemicolectomy was the most common operation
The histopathological reports should be analyzed for completeness according to 10 key prognostic features included in the College of American Pathologists (CAP) checklist for the reporting of colorectal cancer. These features included
