Abstract

In the present study, the field of pharmacological activities, developing and screening of novel antioxidant, antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferation agents are peremptorily demanded. Herein, extract from Ziziphus spina-christi leaves (ZSC) and Euphorbia umbellate latex (EU) loaded alginate/chitosan nanoparticles (ZSC/EU loaded ALG/CS-NPs) was developed as a potent antioxidant modulatory natural extract with promising antimicrobial activity against multidrug resistant bacteria and antifungal, antiviral activity against Coxsackie B3 virus, antioxidant activity against free radicals and oxidative stress, anti-inflammatory activity by inhibitory effect on lysosomal enzymatic activities and anti-proliferation activity against DNA oxidative damage.
1- Preliminary phytochemical screening of Ziziphus spina-christi leaves (ZSC) and Euphorbia umbellate latex (EU)
The preliminary phytochemical analysis of ZSC and EU extracts showed the presence of various classes of bioactive polyphenolic constituents, the extract of ZSC revealed that the polyphenolic constituents like flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, cardiac glycosides, terpenoids, steroids, saponins, anthraquinones, gallotannins and ellagitannis were found. On the other hand, the extract of EU indicated the presence of polyphenolic constituents such as flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, cardiac glycosides, terpenoids, steroids, saponins, anthraquinones, gallotannins and ellagitannis.
