Abstract

Title of the research: Biochemical study on vitamin D and Para-thyroid hormone and their effect on the nutritional status of females .
Vitamin D is one of the important and necessary vitamins for the human body; Where it is classified as a vitamin and a hormone at the same time; Because of its important role in completing and regulating vital processes in the human body, and about a billion people around the world suffer from a deficiency in the level of vitamin D in the body, 85% of women are deficient in vitamin D, 2 out of 4 women after the age of fifty, and one out of every Two after seventy, while one in five men after the age of sixty.
Its deficiency will lead to an increase in the secretion of PTH (parathyroid hormone), which works in cooperation with vitamin D to regulate the level of blood calcium that the body needs in addition to bone formation, but in the work of the nervous and muscular system, so its deficiency will decrease body calcium, and here lies the danger because PTH hormone It will make a defensive line for the body and replace it with calcium, but at the expense of the bones, which will release the calcium molecules in the bones, which leads to osteoporosis.
In the early stages, it will cause osteomalacia, and with the continued deficiency in vitamin D and the increase in calcium withdrawal from the bone will lead to bone caverns and increase osteoporosis. Bones are full of holes, and this risk is more complex with age and the increased chance of bone fractures, especially hip fractures, and difficult to cure.
Hence, we return the importance of this study, which is to reduce the incidence of diseases resulting from vitamin D deficiency and an increase in the parathyroid hormone in adult females through the proposed program.
Where the study was applied to a number of 60 adult females, the sample was divided into three age stages (from 18-40 years “the age of pregnancy and childbearing”, from 40-50 years “the age before menopause”, from 50-70 years “the age after menopause”).
Where the research was applied in maternal and child care centers in Cairo Governorate, by evaluating each case separately.
