Evaluation of cyclic fatigue of three different Rotary Nickel Titanium Systems at different temperatures
Hisham Khaled Fouad Khaled;
Abstract
The results showed highest cyclic fatigue of HyFlex EDM followed by Denjoy i3Gold and M-Pro showed the lowest values for both room and body temperatures. Temperature showed no effect on cyclic fatigue for all instruments within this study. The differential scanning calorimetry confirmed the presence of the martensitic phase in Hyflex EDM, M-Pro and Denjoy i3Gold at room temperature and body temperature.
Conclusions:
Within the limitation of this study, it was concluded that:
1) The electric discharging machine manufacturing method and heat treatment of rotary instruments improved the cyclic fatigue resistance.
2) There were no effect of temperature (between body and room temperature) on cyclic fatigue of CM wire type of instruments.
3) The differential scanning calorimetry confirmed the presence of the martensitic phase in HyFlex EDM, M-Pro and Denjoy i3Gold at room temperature and body temperature which improved the cyclic fatigue resistance.
