Vegetative Propagation of some peach Rootstocks
SARAH SAMER SAED AHMED;
Abstract
The cuttings used in both experiments were collected for both rootstocks (Cadamen and Garnem) from a commercial farm (PICO modern Agriculture Co.), located at mansourya district in Egypt during two consecutive seasons (2017 and 2018. Two rootstocks (Cadamen and Garnem) mothers trees were 4-5 year-old. The trees of both cultivars of peach were planted on peat moss and perlite (4:1) in large pots size 120 cm. The plant material for this study were stem green cutting, stem semi hardwood cutting and stem hardwood cutting.
Two experiments has been done as follows
The first experiment.
The first experiment used hardwood cutting (0.8-1cm diameter) and semi wood cutting (0.5-0.7cm) were 12cm length without leaves, and both of cutting types left four or five buds on the cuttings then all cutting base was immersed in different solutions of IBA at (0 , 1500 , 3000 , 5000 ppm) , these cutting prepared in March.
The obtained results can be summarized as follows:
1. Roots measurements
a. Rooting percentage: Garnem has the highest rooting percentage with IBA at 3000 ppm with semi wood cutting and wood cutting in both seasons.
Cadamen has the highest rooting percentage with IBA at 3000 ppm with semi wood cutting but wood cutting achieved the highest rooting percentage with IBA at 1500 ppm in both seasons.
b. Number of roots: Garnem wood cutting have the highest root number with IBA 3000 ppm while semi-wood cutting with IBA at 3000 and 5000 ppm achieved the highest roots number in both seasons.
