Abstract
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most common cognitive and behavioral disorder diagnosed during childhood, and often continues into adolescence and adulthood. Genetic factors, environmental risk factors, and psychosocial adversity are etiologically correlated with ADHD. MSG is a flavor enhancer. It has been proved to be toxic for both humans and experimental animals. Side-effects can be summarized as appearance of anomalies of metabolic/digestive, respiratory, circulatory, and nervous systems. The omega-3 fatty acids found in fish, walnuts and fenugreek oils play important roles in brain function and development. Omega-3 plays a role in sharpening memory and improving mood, as well as protecting the brain against cognitive decline. For that the present study was conducted to investigate the effect of feeding MSG containing diet to weaning male rats for 8 weeks and the impact of fish, walnut and fenugreek oils consumption on preventing or improving the side effects of MSG containing diet in rats.
