Abstract

This theise aims to study the nonlinear dynamic analysis of symmetrical, non-twisting coupled shear wall including the effective width of slab . Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the solution .
The analysis considered the influences of two of shapes of shear walls on the over all rigidity of the structural system. The exact solution problem of the partial differenial equation of problem is based on Witlric and Williams algorithem . The modeling technique is based on flexible-beam frame method.
Two types of dynamic forces are considered, the first is constant rectangular implused force applied on the modcl of the actual structure . While the second is applied horizontally at the ground of the coupled shear wall structure which is treated as a single degree of freedom system .
Paramitric study investigating the effects of such as opening ratio ( L/x ), rectangularity ratio ( hw / w) , slab thickness ( ts ), and wall thickness ( hw) are presented on the dynamic behavior of free and forced vibration arc studies.
