Abstract

refineries which proved to be of superior quality.
The second phase of the study deals with evaluating the effect of polyethylene on the engineering properties of EI-Amer ia (AC 60/70) asphaltic concrete mixtures and compare
the results with that af the asphaltic concrete mixtures of
Suez (AC 60/70).
The production of asphalt cement in Egypt takes place in
• I
Suez, Alexandria, and El-Amer ia.
Suez Refineries use
the
crude oils recovered from eastern desert,
while Alexandria
and EI-Amcia use the crude oils recovered from western desert.
The use, of asphalt cement 60/7( pent rat ion grade
produced in El-Amer ia refineries caused several
construction
and functional problenus. This study surusts the use of
polyethylene of low density to
improve the physical
and
engineering properties af Ameria 60/70 asphalt cement.
The work plan in this study is divided into two phases.
Phase I, is concerned with evaluating the
effect of
polyethylene on the physical
properties of Ameria 60/70
asphalt cement and compare the results with the physical
properties of asphalt cement
(Ac 60/70)
