REFRACTORY COMPLEX PARTIAL SEIZURES Clinical, Radiological, Electroencephalographic, And Neuropsychological Study

Abstract
This study carried out on patients attending the Outpatients' Clinics and The Inpatients wards ' of Neuropsychiatry Department-Tanta University
Hospitals.
One fundredepileptic patients sufferingfrom CPS witf andwithout secondary gener• alization, selectedaccording to the electro-clinicalcriteria oftfe ICE 1989. They were divided into two main groups:
Refractory CPS group: composed of 60 patients.
Controlled CPS group: composed of 40 patients.
Each ofthe a6ove two groups dividedintofour main subgroups:
Refractory CPS group:
Refractory right and left frontal groups: each one composed of 15 patients.
Refractory right and left temporal groups: each one composed of 15 patients.
Controlled CPS group:
Controlled right and left frontal groups. each one composed of 10 patients.
Controlled right and left temporal groups. each one composed of 10 patients.
The patients were subjectedto:
1. Clinical study: include
I. Complete history taking according to the enclosed sheet from a reli•
able witness or for recording the clinical semiology of seizures.
II. Complete neurological examination: This proved that none of the patients suffering from neurological deficit.
2. Radiological study:
MRI of the brain, using the followingprotocol:
1. MRI was performed on 0.5 Tesla scanner using an epilepsy protocol.
